KMAK Week III – June 21-24

KMAK 2010

Week III: June 21-24

Director: Debra Stephens

Debra

Debra is the director of Preschool and Children’s Ministry at Central Baptist in Owasso and is married to Clay, her high school sweetheart. They have four children: Kenton, Sydney, Natalie and Garrett. Debra accepted Christ as a third grader at a meeting of “The Good News Club” after school. She realized she was a sinner and that Christ had paid the ultimate price for her forgiveness and eternal life. She enjoys working with preschoolers and other children (They laugh at her jokes!) and letting them know God has a plan for their lives.

Debra’s Salvation story: “I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was in third grade at an after school meeting of the “Good News Club” that met in Fleeta Sunday’s garage in Owasso.  We were not attending church at the time.  I went to church off and on throughout my school years with friends (ironically I went to Central several times).  I always knew that I should be in church, but since my family didn’t go, I didn’t go very often.  It was after I was married and had two children that God really started working on my heart that I should have my kids in church.  Through many friendships and divine appointments, the kids and I started attending Central.  Going through an “Experiencing God” class really solidified my understanding of God and my relationship with him. I was baptized when I was 28 (I knew I was saved, but had never been baptized).   I’m now happy to say that 14 years after that, Clay made the same decision and we both now serve at Central.”

Pastor: Jim Stratton

Jim is the pastor of a new church in Tulsa, Rivited Church. Riveted Church is a different kind of Southern Baptist church.  It is holistic, seeking to bring the life-changing message of Christ to EVERY area of life.  It is missional, living out the Messiah’s mandate for involvement in and the redemption of our communities.  It is Christian, believing that salvation comes only through belief in Jesus Christ and ordering one’s life according to His will.  It is communal, realizing that only through cooperation with other believers can God’s goals for us be met.
